Each year many people die that could have been given a chance to live had first aid skills been used. Even though there are preventable deaths each year, there are still fewer than 1 in 10 people in the UK that have been trained in first aid.

Secondary Schools

If you work for a secondary school then you can teach your students lifesaving CPR skills in just 30 minutes by using the BHF's simple and interactive Call Push Rescue Training Kit.

The kit is suitable for students aged 12 years or over and is FREE to eligible secondary schools, sixth forms and colleges.

The kit contains an educational DVD demonstrating how to do CPR while trainees practise along using the inflatable manikins provided. No instructor is needed as all of the techniques are taught using the DVD. All you need is a DVD player and a little space to practise in.

Subjects covered include when to perform CPR on an adult or child, how to put someone in the recovery position and how to use a public access defibrillator.

The Call Push Rescue Training Kit includes:

• inflatable manikins​
• practise-while-watching training DVDs
• kneel mats
• manikin wipes
• extra manikin replacement parts
• all contained in a handy carry bag

Schools can only apply for one CPR kit. The training kit will allow you to train 35 pupils at a time and is reusable

St John Ambulance

St.John Ambulance has developed a website called 'Teach the Difference' that is designed to make teaching first aid skills in the classroom both simple and fun.

On this website you will find a considerable amount of FREE resources which cater for children from the ages of 7 to 16 that can be tailored specifically to your classroom. The resources from St John Ambulance provide teachers with a fun, relevant and meaningful way of bringing lifesaving skills into the classroom.

You will also find support and guidance for teachers, plus awards and competitions for your school to work towards and participate in.
